More than 50 years ago, Manuel Vázquez, "Manolo Arnoya", started his business selling wine through a small winery.
Bodegas Gallegas, like other large business projects, started from a modest origin and full of illusion, business vision and effort. That's how it all started. We have grown but we have never forgotten the essence of a project that is enriched by the tradition and family character of the business.
We cannot forget that humble Arnoia winery, its simple barrels and the trips that the businessman himself made in a cart to sell the product. All that experience has led to what we are today.
Manolo “Arnoya” used to say that to make good wine you need three things: work, love and feeling. In half a century of history, we have never betrayed this philosophy: this advice has made us great.

The vineyards
WINERY RECTORAL DE AMANDI
Located in a privileged enclave, it is part of the Ribeira Sacra Designation of Origin and is located in the heart of the D.O., in the Amandi region. It was built in 1910 on an old rectory from the 17th century.
This region has crossed borders for its peculiar viticulture known throughout the world as “heroic viticulture”, receiving this name for the steep slopes on which the vineyards are located, greatly hindering the harvesting of the grapes and keeping the cultivation process faithful to the tradition.

WINERY ALANÍS
Located in the Miño river basins and its tributaries Arnoia, Avia and Barbantiño it is the oldest Designation of Origin in Galicia, and one of the most important thermal tourism destinations in Europe.
More than 100 years creating unique and extraordinary wines from the Ribeiro Designation of Origin. The secret of its long years of good work: a very careful selection of the original grapes, promoting indigenous varieties, such as Treixadura and Torrontés, and a refined production process, merging tradition and cutting-edge technology.
In recent years, Bodega Alanís has adapted to a new, more demanding and qualified market that demands its wines not only in Spain, but also in other countries such as the United States or Japan. For this reason, it has made a significant investment that has provided the winery with new and modern facilities with a capacity of 2.5 million liters, making it one of the largest wineries in the Ribeiro Designation of Origin.
